Trails and Firebreaks

In the Urban environment trails around the house could be a route for firefighters to deal with fires. In the Rural areas trails are game or livestock trails, going from a spot to something interesting to another and so on. It is exploratory. Learning about land and everything (everyone) struggle to live. So we go from one interesting point to another and wind back at the spot we begin or connect to another trail that will. Removing the clutter provides less competition for the larger trees and removing larger alien species less competition for prairie grasses and wildflowers. This is selective land clearing at work with the land and all that live there stakeholders. Negotiation of space and resources in a balanced way. Stewardship is another explanation.
